When Should You Order Your Wedding Signs? The Timeline

Quick Answer

Order all your wedding signs together 3 months before your wedding (especially during peek wedding season May-September). You can submit final details 4 weeks before your wedding day once everything is confirmed.

We reccomend purchasing all your signs together, and submitting final details 4 weeks before your wedding day.

"How far in advance should I order?" is the question we get most. The honest answer: plan early, finalize later. Here's the breakdown.

How far in advance should I order my wedding signs?

The best approach is simple:

  • Order all your signage together: 3 months before your wedding
  • Submit final details: 4 weeks before your wedding

This gives you the best of both worlds — you lock in your design and production timeline early, without stressing about guest counts or last-minute changes.

Seasonal note:

  • Peak season (May–September): stick to the full 3 months
  • Off-season (October–April): you can order closer, but we still recommend 3 months for peace of mind

Why order all your signage together?

Ordering all your signage at once helps you:

  • Keep fonts, colors, and materials consistent across every piece
  • Avoid duplicate shipping costs
  • Guarantee availability during busy months
  • Reduce last-minute stress

Instead of placing multiple signage orders weeks apart, you’ll have one streamlined process with a clear timeline.

What gets finalized later?

Even though you order early, many details aren’t ready until closer to the wedding — that’s completely expected.

Submit these 4 weeks before your wedding day:

  • Seating chart (after RSVPs are finalized)
  • Table count / table numbers
  • Bar menu & signature drinks
  • Timeline / order of events
  • Ceremony program details

This timing ensures everything is accurate without rushing production.

What can be designed right away?

Some signage is safe to design immediately when you place your order:

  • Welcome sign (names, date, venue)
  • Unplugged ceremony sign
  • Guest book sign
  • Gifts & cards sign
  • Table numbers (if you know the quantity)
  • Wedding quote sign
  • General decorative signage

These elements rarely change, making them ideal to lock in early.

What can be designed right away?

Waiting too long to order your wedding sigange can create unnecessary stress:

  • Limited time for proof revisions
  • Rush fees or unavailable production slots
  • Shipping delays during peak season
  • Inconsistent designs from ordering in batches or different collections

Ordering late often means compromising on either design or timeline.

Did you know you can add proofs to your order? While proofs are complimentary with your seating charts & large double signs they're not included with everything else. You can now purchase proofs to add to your order to ensure all your signs are designed perfectly. Add proofs here.

Can I rush order wedding signs?

We'd love to work with you, however during peek season we cannot always guarentee your rush order. Please email us prior to placing your order to ensure we're able to take on your signage order. Rush fees may apply. You can reach out here if you'd like a rush.

What's the typical turnaround time for wedding signage?

Our standard turnaround is 5 weeks from order to delivery:

  • Week 1: Order your wedding signs
  • Week 2-3: If you purchased proofs as an add on these are delivered
  • Week 3: Production after approval
  • Week 4-5: Your wedding signs ship to you

That’s why ordering early — even if details come later — makes such a difference.

Should I order wedding signs before or after I send invitations?

After. The invitation suite establishes your wedding's typography and color palette — once those are locked, you can match the signs to the invitations. Ordering signs first risks the design language shifting between the two and creating mismatched aesthetics. Your invitation suite sets the tone (fonts, colors, style), and your signage should match it for a cohesive look.

Typical timeline: invitations sent 12 weeks before the wedding → signage ordered shortly after → final details submitted if you ordered a bar sign, double wedding sign, or seating chart that requires sending additional details after the order is submitted. → If no other details are required for later we begin production right away.
